Released by Seahawks
The Seahawks released Burr-Kirven on Thursday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Analysis: Burr-Kirven never really got a chance to jumpstart his career in Seattle, as he tore his ACL before the start of his third season in the NFL and eventually missed the entire 2021 season as well as the 2022 campaign. The 25-year-old linebacker will now work toward another opportunity elsewhere to rejuvenate his playing career.

Improving through nerve damage
Head coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Burr-Kirven has progressed in his recovery from nerve damage in his knee, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Burr-Kirven, who's scheduled to become a free agent this offseason after missing both of the last two campaigns due to the torn ACL he sustained during a preseason game in 2021, will have an opportunity to return to Seattle if he's eventually cleared for football-related activities. The 2019 fifth-round pick operated as one of the Seahawks' top special-teams contributors across his first two years in the NFL.

Not on injury report
Burr-Kirven (knee) was not listed on the Seahawks' injury report Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Burr-Kirven appears to have finished his recovery from a season-ending torn ACL suffered last August, which also required a follow-up procedure in June. The 2019 fifth-round pick should now be available to slot into a reserve role at inside linebacker heading into the team's season-opening clash against Denver on Monday night.

Fails physical
Burr-Kirven (knee) was waived with a failed physical designation Tuesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Analysis: Burr-Kirven suffered a season-ending ACL tear last August, and it was reported he would need an additional clean-up procedure in June. He had been a steady contributor on special teams for the Seahawks each of the last two seasons.

Undergoing follow-up procedure
Coach Pete Carroll said Thursday that Burr-Kirven is set to have an additional clean-up procedure after suffering a season-ending torn ACL last August, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Analysis: Carroll also added that Burr-Kirven's surgery will address some lingering scar tissue in his knee and he is questionable for the start of Seattle's training camp. The 2019 fifth-round pick collected 16 tackles and one forced fumble and was a major contributor on special teams over his first two seasons with the Seahawks. Burr-Kirven should have an opportunity to reprise his role on special teams heading into the final year of his rookie contract.

Done for season
The knee injury Burr-Kirven suffered Saturday was a season-ending torn ACL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Burr-Kirven was subsequently placed on IR, per John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site. Burr-Kirven was in the midst of an outstanding camp and had been making a serious push for a starting role. He'll have to spend the entire season recovering, but the 2019 fifth-round pick should have an opportunity to reestablish himself as a contributor for the Seahawks in 2022.

Suffers major knee injury
Burr-Kirven suffered a major knee injury during Saturday's preseason contest, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Burr-Kirven has been a special-teams ace and a depth linebacker for the Seahawks during his first two seasons in the NFL. Aaron Donkor will have an opportunity to step up in Burr-Kirven's absence.

Won't return Saturday
Burr-Kirven (knee) won't return to Saturday's preseason contest against the Broncos, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Burr-Kirven has been a special-teams ace for the Seahawks during his first two years in the NFL, playing in all 16 games and registering eight tackles each season. The extent of the 23-year-old's injury is unknown, but if he is forced to miss time, Aaron Donkor will have an opportunity to carve out a backup role behind Jordyn Brooks.

Strong special-teams work in 2019
Burr-Kirven made eight special-teams tackles over 16 regular-season games in 2019.
Analysis: The Seahawks selected Burr-Kirven in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 22-year-old was buried on the defensive depth chart, but he managed to make an impact by ranking second on the team behind rookie Ugo Amadi in special-teams stops. Burr-Kirven will vie for additional defensive reps in 2020 if the team doesn't retain Mychal Kendricks (knee), but he faces an uphill battle since rookie Cody Barton showed versatility and made four starts when Kendricks was sidelined.
