Signs with New Orleans
Sorensen signed a contract with the Saints on Friday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Analysis: Sorensen spent his first eight seasons in the NFL with the Chiefs and finished the 2021 campaign with 51 tackles, eight pass deflections, two interceptions and one sack across 17 appearances. The Saints also signed Marcus Maye (Achilles) this offseason in an attempt to replace Marcus Williams; however, if Maye isn't fully cleared by Week 1, Sorensen figures to be the next man up.

Benched for Thornhill
Sorensen is expected to move into a reserve role Sunday in Washington, with Juan Thornhill replacing him as the Chiefs' starting free safety, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Sorensen's benching comes after he was primarily responsible for a 61-yard reception by Stefon Diggs and 53-yard touchdown catch by Dawson Knox in the Chiefs' 38-20 loss to the Bills last week. Though the Chiefs' vulnerable pass defense had presented plenty of tackling opportunities for Sorensen -- he racked up 35 stops through five games -- the 31-year-old has been highly unproductive from a real-life standpoint, as Pro Football Focus has graded him 83rd among the 85 safeties with at least 100…read more

Another big tackling day
Sorensen had nine solo tackles during Kansas City's win over Philadelphia in Week 4.
Analysis: Sorensen has had a productive three weeks in terms of stops, bringing him up to 23 tackles on the year. The veteran safety also has one sack and one pass breakup. Given his near every-down workload, Sorensen will be in the mix as a fairly high upside IDP asset during Week 5's matchup against the Bills.

Generates seven tackles
Sorenson posted seven tackles (five solo) and a pass breakup in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Sorenson has now produced 21 tackles, a sack and a pass breakup through three contests. The BYU product is producing consistently and maintains some IDP utility as a result, though fellow safety Tyrann Mathieu is certainly more appealing.

Takes down Jackson
Sorenson posted 10 tackles and a sack in Sunday's 36-35 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Sorenson notched his first sack since the 2017 season and matched last year's season high for tackles in the same game. The BYU product registered a career-high 91 stops last season, and he's on a strong path to match that with 14 tackles through two weeks.

Staying with Chiefs
Sorensen re-signed with the Chiefs on a one-year, $2.4 million contract Thursday, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Sorensen, who's suited up with the team for the past seven seasons, will return to Kansas City after compiling a career high in tackles (91) during the 2020 campaign. Additionally, the 31-year-old posted five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and three interceptions in his 15 games last season. Sorensen will return to his prominent role in the Chiefs' secondary in 2021.

Career-high tackle count in 2020
Sorensen racked up 91 tackles (68 solo) over 15 regular-season games and added a trio of interceptions during the 2020 campaign.
Analysis: Not only did Sorenson lead the team in tackles by a wide margin, but he also had a nose for the football in 2020, notching two forced fumbles to go along with his three interceptions despite starting just 11 of the 15 games he appeared in. Sorensen's contract expires this offseason, so there is no guarantee he will be in a Chiefs uniform come 2021.

Totals seven tackles
Sorensen had seven tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 33-27 win over the Chiefs.
Analysis: The 30-year-old played every defensive snap for the fifth straight contest as he continues to play a significant role in the secondary. Sorensen has 80 tackles (59 solo), three interceptions, two forced fumbles and one touchdown this season.

Piles season high in stops
Sorensen recorded 10 tackles (eight solo) and a forced fumble in Sunday's 33-31 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Sorensen has now produced 57 tackles through nine games, the same total he collected through 16 games last season. He's an every-down player in Kansas City now, and he's added two pass breakups and two interceptions, including a pick-six. The 30-year-old will enjoy a Week 10 bye before traveling to Las Vegas for an important AFC West showdown.

Leads team with nine tackles
Sorensen registered nine tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 35-9 victory over the Jets.
Analysis: Sorensen seemed to be all over the field in this one, tallying nine tackles for the second consecutive week. Through eight games this season, he's recorded 47 tackles (37 solo), two passes defensed, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

Registers pick-six in win
Sorensen finished with nine tackles (seven solo) and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown in Sunday's 43-16 victory over the Broncos.
Analysis: Sorensen set the tone early in this one, picking off Drew Lock and taking it to the house in the second quarter. He also collected a season-high nine tackles in the contest. Sorensen heads into Week 8 against the Jets with 38 tackles and two interceptions on the year.

Grabs first interception
Sorensen had five tackles (two solo) and one interception during Monday's 26-17 win over the Bills.
Analysis: The 30-year-old played 100 percent of defensive snaps for the first time this season and secured his first interception of the year of Josh Allen to deal the win for Kansas City. Sorensen is playing a significant role in the secondary for the Chiefs, but he's not much of an IDP option with 29 total tackles through six games.

Fills smaller role in 2020
Sorensen finished the 2019 regular season with 57 tackles (44 solo) and two interceptions over 16 games.
Analysis: Sorense held a starting job the previous two seasons, but he saw his playing time drop off in 2019 with the Chiefs adding Tyrann Mathieu in free agency and investing a second-round pick into Juan Thornhill. The rookie secured the starting job in training camp, leaving Sorensen to handle a role as a third safety. Thornhill suffered a torn ACL late in the season that allowed Sorensen to recapture a starting gig in the playoffs, so the 29-year-old could open the 2020 campaign atop the depth chart…read more

Big Week 11 showing
Sorensen racked up eight tackles and his first interception of the 2019 season Monday versus the Chargers.
Analysis: Although he's not officially a starter at safety, Sorensen played the third-most defensive snaps Monday behind just Juan Thornhill and Tyrann Mathieu, the other two safeties. Sorensen's snap count has seen a significant rise over the last two weeks and has corresponded with a major jump in his tackle totals. He could move into borderline IDP status should he retain a large share of snaps out of the bye week.
