Retires from NFL
Tuitt announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.
Analysis: After missing the entire 2021 campaign while recovering from an injury, Tuitt decided to call it quits after eight seasons in the NFL. The 29-year-old finishes his career with 246 tackles including 34.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, an interception and 13 pass deflections over 91 games.

Placed on injured reserve
Tuitt was placed on injured reserve for an undisclosed reason Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Tuitt racked up a career-high 11 sacks across 15 appearances during the 2020 campaign, but he'll be sidelined for at least the first three weeks of the season in 2021. The specifics of the 28-year-old's injury haven't yet been revealed, but Henry Mondeaux and Isaiahh Loudermilk could see a slight uptick in playing time in his absence.

Tweaks deal with Pittsburgh
The Steelers have converted $7.925 million of Tuitt's 2021 salary into signing bonus to create cap space, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The 28-year-old remains signed through the 2022 campaign after reaching a five-year, $60 million extension in September of 2017, and the restructure will open up $6.34 million in cap room this season. Tuitt totaled 45 tackles and a career-high 11 sacks in 15 games for Pittsburgh last season, and he'll remain a key contributor in 2021.

Finishes season with 11 sacks
Tuitt recorded three solo tackles, including one sack, in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Tuitt saw a significant snap count in the Steelers' regular-season finale, and he recorded a sack for the fourth time in the past five weeks. The 27-year-old generated 45 tackles (33 solo) during the regular season. Tuitt also had 11 sacks, by far the highest mark of his career. He'll enter the final year of his contract during his age-28 season in 2021.

Good to go Week 16
Tuitt (back) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old sat out the first two practices of the week due to the back issue, but he was able to practice with no limitations Friday to avoid the questionable tag. Tuitt has a career-high nine sacks in 13 games this season.

Managing back injury
Tuitt (back) did not practice Wednesday, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: The Steelers are facing a short week of practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Colts, so it's possible that load management is playing a role in Tuitt's absence. The starting defensive end will have two more chances to resume practicing before the Steelers assign him a Week 16 injury designation.

Activated off COVID list
Tuitt (undisclosed) has officially been activated off the Steelers' reserve/COVID-19 list, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: It remains unclear if Tuitt actually tested positive for the illness or simply had close contact with somebody who has. Barring any setbacks, he is now on track to resume his usual role at defensive end in Monday's matchup with the Washington Football Team.

Lands on COVID list
The Steelers have officially placed Tuitt on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Analysis: It is unclear whether Tuitt has actually tested positive for the illness or if he just had close contact with someone who has. The Steelers' game versus the Ravens has been pushed back until Tuesday, so he will need to be cleared prior to then for any chance at suiting up this week. He currently ranks fifth on the team in tackles with 31 (22 solo) to go along with six sacks.

Forces fumble against Jacksonville
Tuitt recorded a sack, a forced fumble and one defensed pass in Sunday's 27-3 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Tuitt was the first of two Steelers to bring down Jake Luton in Sunday's win, and he forced a fumble on the play that was recovered by Jacksonville. The 27-year-old has now set his career-high sack total over the first 10 games of 2020.

Lives in Baltimore's backfield
Tuitt totaled nine tackles (eight solo), two sacks and three tackles for loss in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Tuitt was a disruptive force, often forcing negative plays in Baltimore's backfield and laying three hits on quarterback Lamar Jackson. He has six sacks in seven games, leaving Tuitt just half a sack short of tying the career high he set back in 2015.

Notches 1.5 sacks
Tuitt recorded five tackles and 1.5 sacks in Sunday's 38-29 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Although his tackle count is low, Tuitt's off to a hot start this season with 3.5 sacks and 11 quarterback pressures through four games. The 2014 second-round pick is second to T.J. Watt for the team lead in sacks as well. Tuitt has played at least 70 percent of the defensive snaps in every game this year, so this production is sustainable if he can stay healthy.

Another sack Sunday
Tuitt totaled four tackles (two solo) including a sack in the Steelers' 28-21 Week 3 win over the Texans Sunday.
Analysis: With two sacks in three games, Tuitt is on pace to shatter his career-best 6.5 sacks during the first full season and only the second of his career. Pittsburgh trailed at halftime for the first time this season, but the defense held Houston to just 51 yards and two first downs after the break.

Back to work Thursday
Tuitt (Achilles) was a full participant for Thursday's practice, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Tuitt popped up on the injury report Wednesday with an Achilles issue that he may have suffered in Week 1 against the Giants. Now healthy, expect the veteran to handle his normal starting duties at defensive end.

Can't go Wednesday
Tuitt (Achilles) did not practice Wednesday, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette reports.
Analysis: Tuitt notched one tackle and a single sack during Monday's 26-16 win over the Giants, but he also appears to have picked up an Achilles issue during the contest. The starting defensive end will have two more chances to up his level of practice activity before Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Ready to rock
Tuitt (undisclosed) is not listed on Thursday's injury report, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Tuitt has fully recovered from the undisclosed injury he managed during training camp. The veteran defensive end is on track for Monday's game against the Giants, though his lack of consistent upside as a pass rusher leaves him without a safe fantasy floor in IDP formats.

Sidelined during practice
Tuitt (undisclosed) didn't participate in Saturday's practice, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: Tuitt missed the final 10 games of the 2019 season due to a torn pectoral muscle, and now he's hampered by another injury. Nothing signals that this injury is related to his pectoral injury, but it's worth keeping an eye on Tuitt's progress, as he's in line to start at defensive end again this season.

Back for 2020
Tuitt (pectoral) should retain his starting spot at defensive end for 2020, Tim Benz of the Pittburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old had a strong start to the season with 3.5 sacks through six games, but he suffered a torn pectoral Week 6 and required season-ending surgery. Tuitt should play a significant role up front for the Steelers in 2020, especially with the offseason departure of Javon Hargrave.

Plays just six games this season
Tuitt (pectoral) was off to a strong start in 2019 with 3.5 sacks through six games before suffering a season-ending injury.
Analysis: On pace for a career-best nine sacks before getting hurt, Tuitt finished the 2019 season with 22 tackles, including 3.5 sacks. Under contract until 2023, he is expected to assume the starting left end position in 2020 if healthy. This would impact the playing time of Tyson Alualu and would be a significant upgrade to a defensive unit that already led the league in sacks and takeaways, while also allowing the fifth-fewest yards and points.
